 First time visit?

If you've  never had a massage, you may be wondering what to expect from your first session.  You will experience an hour of relaxation  with a unique treatment that will fit your individual needs and benefit your health.

What to expect

We will ask you to fill out a quick intake form regarding your medical history, past or present injuries, or other physical conditions that we should be aware of prior to your treatment.

You will have a consultation with one of our licensed massage therapist where  you will tell us your concerns.  The therapist will review your information and customize your treatment to fit your needs.

Common questions

Must I be completely undressed?

Most techniques are performed with the client unclothed, but it is entirely up to you to undress to the level of your comfort.  You will be properly draped during the entire session.  Only the area being treated will be exposed.

Will the therapist be present when I get undressed?

The therapist will leave the room while you get undressed.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage  therapy a risk?

Yes. That's why before you begin your session, the therapist will ask general health questions. It is very important that you inform your therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or cupping therapy prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

How do cups feel?

People have described the feeling of having cups applied to their bodies in many different ways.  Examples range from feeling soothing, rolling, invigorating, stimulating, energizing, warming, tingling, and feeling like deep-tissue massage.  People can feel itchy after cupping, most likely due to an increase in circulation in the area.

What are the marks that often happen from cupping?

Cupping marks are a sign of interstitial debris, such as old blood, being released after cups have been applied to the body.  Cups work as a vacuum, helping to facilitate the release of any waste materials that the body sometimes simply cannot do on its own.  While true cupping marks are a sign of release, sometimes bruises  can occur if this therapy is applied too strongly or too aggressively.

How long can cups be applied?

Everyone will experience a different reaction to therapeutic cupping.  It is best, to limit both the time and the pressure of suction in initial application, so the body has time to welcome any cupping therapy, rather than overdoing it
